Elena Băsescu, the youngest daughter of former President Traian Băsescu, will run for the PMP for a substitute seat in Constanța. She claims that she will promote the interests of single-parent families in Parliament and claims that, through her role as a single mother of three, she has acquired “a different dimension of society”.
Elena Băsescu opens the PMP Constanța list for the Chamber of Deputies.
- “I decided to accept a substitute position in Constanţa. Why in Constanţa? Because it is my second home. I was born in Constanţa, I grew up in Constanţa, my father’s family lives in Constanţa. I want I bring the contribution, I want to contribute the experience that I acquired in the European Parliament.
- Through the role that I had, that of a single mother of three children, I gained a new dimension, I realized that the state does not support single-parent families. (…) Therefore, I want to offer PMP a new vision of public policies in the social area.
- I will not fight in Parliament. I will only want to build from my own experience, that of a single mother of three children, ”Elena Băsescu said at the press conference in which PMP announced its candidates for the European Parliament.
Elena Băsescu was a member of the European Parliament during 2009-2014.
