A video of a Belarusian taxi driver rescuing a police protester has gone viral. The man practically jumped into the taxi driver’s car as he fled from anti-protest police, who were following him with sticks.

The 16-second clip is filmed by a Euroradio.fm reporter and seems unrelated to action movies, taking into account the escape the taxi driver achieves. All the action is taking place in a residential district of Minsk on Wednesday night, as crowds protested against the fraudulent inauguration of a new term by Alexander Lukashenko.

The video was viewed by tens of thousands of people on various online platforms.

Belarusian police detained 364 people in protests against Lukashenko on Wednesday (September 23), according to the country’s Interior Ministry. Lukashenko, 66, held an investment ceremony for a new period without notice. The ceremony was declared illegitimate by the opposition, the European Union and the United States.
