“Vaccines do not protect us from this wave.” Public health expert Răzvan Cherecheș believes that a new national quarantine is very possible

“The effect of vaccines will only be seen for the fourth wave, which will start in the autumn, because only then will we have a sufficiently large number of people who have been vaccinated and they will no longer be exposed,” Răzvan Cherecheș told TVR1.

The public health expert also says that “for the current wave, the measures that will save us are the same until now, extensive tests respectively, and here we see that we are not able to increase the number of tests, epidemiological investigations, we see that even with we cannot handle these, and the restrictions, respectively, use the mask, avoid crowds, ventilation ”.

Ministry of Health “does not communicate enough”

Cherecheș believes that, most likely, “we will reach quarantine” for two reasons: because the institution led by Vlad Voiculescu does not communicate sufficiently and because the local authorities do not respect the measures.

“The reason why we will reach a quarantine, if it does, will be because the rules are not followed. The authorities do not send a clear message of why the mask should continue to be used,” says Cherecheș, who since February 17 is Honorary Advisor to the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Health, Andreea Moldovan.

When asked by the moderator if the institution headed by Vlad Voiculescu communicates enough, Răzvan Cherecheș replied: “No, no. So the Ministry of Health, although the communication rate has increased, it does not communicate enough. Especially in the conditions in which we have this phenomenon of fatigue ”.

“People are tired, they are tired of wearing masks, because of all this. We have two more months, then we have to grit our teeth for another two months, until May, when the weather warms up and the virus transmission rate will decrease, ”Cherecheș also told TVR.
