DNA prosecutors are conducting dozens of searches on Thursday in two corruption cases, targeting former PSD Mayor of Sector 1 in the capital Daniel Tudorache, as well as former Mayor of Sector 5 Marian Vanghelie. Tudorache wrote on Facebook that the search was carried out following a notification from current mayor Clotilde Armand for the purchase of tablets for Sector 1 students.
UPDATE 16.45 Subsequently, the Sector 5 City Council announced, through a press release, that agents of the Judicial Police of the National Anticorruption Directorate were collecting financial-accounting documents from the company Economat SRL, but also other documents from the Sector 5 City Council, from the specialty departments, related to the relationship with this company. UPDATE 15.09: The former mayor of Sector 5 PSD, Daniel Florea, is heard on DNA on Thursday afternoon. We remind you that prosecutors today carried out raids on various district councils and institutions subordinate to them, as well as on the houses of former mayors Daniel Tudorache and Marian Vanghelie, in two cases of corruption.
Daniel Florea said, upon reaching DNA, that they called him to be heard as a witness, without being told what the case was.
Asked if the investigation could lead to the purchase of tablets for students, he replied: “The City Council of Secor 5 has not bought tablets for students. I’ll see.”
DNA announced in a press release that prosecutors are investigating two criminal cases involving suspicions of corruption and assimilation of corruption, which were allegedly committed during 2020 and earlier.
On Thursday, house searches were carried out in 38 towns in Bucharest and Ilfov county, two of which are subordinate entities to some city councils in the sector, the rest represent the houses of some people, DNA said.
The former mayor of the PSD of Sector 1 of the capital Daniel Tudorache and the former mayor of Sector 5 Marian Vanghelie are also subject to the DNA investigation.
Tudorache: I was not “raised”, “brought to hearings”, “detained”
Tudorache wrote on Facebook that the search was carried out following a notification from current mayor Clotilde Armand for the purchase of tablets for Sector 1 students.
