The ‘King’ will invest no less than 3.5 million euros for the expansion of the luxury center that he built near Constanza. The money comes from a loan made to BRD. Hagi Academy appeared in 2009. In 11 years, it has produced dozens of players and has achieved performances that are difficult to match in both junior and senior, after the appearance of Viitorul.
Academy youth teams have won 24 national titles. In senior, Viitorul has a championship (2017), a Cup and a Super Cup (both in 2019), all with Hagi on the bench.
Gica bought land near the Academy to develop the project. The club is also building a hotel within the base where the players will live and where the administrative offices will operate.
Already unique in Southeast Europe, the Academy project will take the step towards a continental competition. It will reach a level close to that of the western giants: Barça, Real, City or Tottenham.
Now, Hagi Academy covers 7 hectares. Aside from the central ground, with 4545 seats, there are 7 secondary grounds on the base, as well as several buildings in which there are offices, gyms or recovery. After the update, the size of the Academy will be more than double the current one!
