A couple from Spain risk a total of 40 years in prison, accusing the spouses of raping the Romanian housekeeper, with the aim of getting her pregnant and that they keep the child.
The trial of the two spouses began this week, in Valencia, the entire judicial process having as a starting point the complaint filed with the police by the 36-year-old Romanian woman, according to the Spanish press.
The woman said that, in July 2017, she was hired as a housekeeper by the two husbands from Valencia, who also offered her accommodation.
However, a few days after she moved home, the two spouses proposed to the woman to become pregnant, and they to keep the child, in exchange for the amount of 100,000 euros. Because she refused, the Romanian woman was threatened with death, assaulted and raped by the man, but also by her life partner.
The spouses denied all the allegations and said during hearings that the housekeeper had consensual sex with them. The Romanian admitted that, at one point, she slept with the man, with the consent of his wife, but after being told what the true intention was, she refused to do so again.
The housekeeper’s accusations are supported by the neighbors’ calls to the police, requesting the intervention of some crews, because there was a scandal in the house of the two spouses. It was later discovered that the housekeeper had been assaulted, but was afraid to file a complaint. Later one day when they threatened her with a knife, the Romanian woman called her mother and alerted the police.
Police officers who arrived at the home said the victim was in a deplorable condition and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Subsequently, the Romanian filed the complaint.
Prosecutors demanded a 21-year prison sentence for the 39-year-old man and a significantly shorter sentence for his wife.
