The Frenchman is accused of attempted murder “for reasons of race, ethnicity or religion,” representatives of the Nanterre Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.

On Saturday night, a man seriously wounded two women and a young man with a knife in Antony (Hautes-de-Seine), a city of more than 60,000 inhabitants, located in the southern suburbs of Paris.

Two of the victims were of Romanian origin, according to the prosecution. It involves a 19-year-old and a woman, whose identity is unknown and who was still in intensive care on Tuesday.
