A couple from Italy decided to test the limits of the conspiracy theory they believe in and decided to get on a boat and try to get to the “edge” Peducation. Followers of the Flat Earth theory, the two decided to try to prove their theory.

The two left Venice and planned to reach Lampedusa, an island between Sicily and North Africa, where they thought it was the edge of the “disk” of the planet.

According to indy100, the two also sold their car to fund their expedition, but things didn’t go according to plan. They planned to leave Termini Imerese, a small town in northern Sicily, to reach Lampedusa.

To make the whole situation even more ironic, from the conspiracy theory perspective they believed in, the two of them used a compass to navigate the sea. However, the two eventually got lost at sea and did not reach Lampedusa. Instead, they reached another island, Ustica, just 200 kilometers from Sicily.

According to directferries.co.uk, the journey from Sicily to Ustica takes about an hour and a half. The two found out where they were at the Ustica maritime office and were later quarantined in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

Their adventures didn’t end even after this episode: the two tried to escape quarantine twice before giving up and agreeing to remain isolated. Later, they decided to return home and resume their expedition on another occasion.
