The list of countries that Romania considers to be of high epidemiological risk was updated on Friday, April 2, 2021 by the National Committee for Emergency Situations (CNSU). People arriving in Romania from these countries, regions or territories included in the so-called “yellow zone” must be quarantined for 14 days.

The list was prepared at the proposal of the National Institute of Public Health and takes into account the data published by the ECDC on Thursday, April 1, 2021, for the period from March 15 to 28, 2021. The criteria taken into account are the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants.

Romania’s designated “yellow zone” comprises 43 zones and countries.

The list was last updated on March 25.

Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova remain on the list of countries with high epidemiological risk. But Turkey is also on the list.

The quarantine of people from these countries with a high epidemiological risk is mandatory even for those with a negative PCR test. In this case, the measure applies for 10 days.

For travelers who have not been tested and come to the country on their own, the quarantine lasts 14 days.

The measure does not apply to those who, upon entering Romania, show that they have been vaccinated with both doses or that they have had COVID-19 in the last 90 days and have been cured.

Also, people in transit will not be quarantined.

The provisions on quarantine and quarantine exceptions are provided in CNSU Decision No. 9 of 2.02.2021.
