Why was GOLD successful in rejection?
In terms of success abroad, there is a structural explanation: many in the diaspora hate the West, although they are there, they take advantage of it, but they hate it for the way they are treated. They are not integrated there, they are marginal. A woman who works as a caregiver in Italy, cares for some dying elderly, is not very happy with what she does. They are dissatisfied with their condition abroad, they feel inferior. And then these people, many of those who voted for GOLD, would return to Romania under the conditions where they would have a profit equal to or comparable to what they have in the West here. They are not happy there, CTP explained.
The journalist says that this sector of the electorate has not been detected so far in the diaspora vote in the other elections, they were treated flatly.
“I am in the diaspora and many who are integrated in the respective countries, are respected, have a decent salary, there are many with dual citizenship, it is something else. But these, the marginalized, are the ones who voted for the GOLD now, because they were addressed in this chord, in which the PSD was not either. What did PSD do? Discredited. When asked if there is still room for GOLD to grow, the journalist is quite skeptical. AUR “is a much more heterogeneous party than it seems and divisions have already appeared. It will have a problem of the nature of MSW, much bigger still ”, considers CTP.
