Traian Băsescu, new criminal case for false statements

The criminal case was opened in the General Prosecutor’s Office investigating the complaint made by the Political Investigation Group (GIP) on July 13, 2020 against Traian Băsescu, accused of making statements under his own responsibility, before becoming President of Romania, parliamentary and now, in the European Parliament, they were false.

GIP’s complaint is based on the decision of the Bucharest Court of Appeal in the fall of 2019, which determined that Traian Băsescu was a collaborator of the former Securitate.
