To reflect on how appropriate it was to force the note

A proven sailor and two-term president, Traian Băsescu failed in yesterday’s election. It failed to get the PMP to enter Parliament a second time.

“We thank all the Romanians who went to the polls during the pandemic. It was a difficult campaign, improperly said electoral, in the conditions in which we could not meet with the Romanians. The important thing is that we managed to pass this test,” says the president from PMP, Eugen Tomac.

In turn, Traian Băsescu, the party’s honorary chairman, joked and said that if the party got less than 5%, he would have spoken first.

“If the result was below 5%, I was the first to speak. For PMP, these elections showed that it is possible without Băsescu, because PMP has crossed the threshold. And it did not pass it anyway. PMP will have 7% without redistribution This will definitely happen. I can’t help but think that we have the elections with the least turnout, which will pose big legitimacy problems for four years. It will be a government with very fragmented support. That should make President Iohannis think when he will stimulate the parliamentary majority and it will have to make him think about the turnout at the polls, how timely it was to force the qualification for these elections, “says Băsescu.

In his opinion, Klaus Iohannis, “regardless of the result of the last vote, send the PSD to the opposition and, if it does not come out only outside Parliament, send ProRomania also to the opposition.”
