President Klaus Iohannis said this Tuesday, at the inauguration of the metro in Drumul Taberei, that “this line runs the risk of becoming a kind of legend, a legend of postponements, but here came a determined government, who wanted to show that it was things can be successfully inaugurated ”.
“First of all, congratulations, and Metrorex, and the Ministry of Transportation, the Government, which was exemplary in completing this investment, and I simply allowed myself, on the platform, to congratulate those who really built this metro line. It is a great achievement, it must be recognized, it is true, after the Revolution, the greatest achievement of this type, metro type, in Romania. Of course, until now it has not been easy and this line ran the risk of becoming a kind of legend, a legend of postponements, but here came a determined government, who wanted to show that such works can be completed successfully. And here it is inaugurated, ”said Klaus Iohannis.
“This achievement certainly contributes to the improvement of life in Bucharest and it is very important to continue in this line. We also need to reach transport infrastructure in the 21st century. People want infrastructure, mobility is increasingly important to everyone. Romanians and for that the Government will have to insist a lot – and I will insist a lot – because we need a lot of transport infrastructure, communications, etc. more, “added the head of state.
The president also said that “it is important to note that a large part of this investment was financed with European funds.” “We still have European funds at our disposal and we have huge sums at our disposal. So the development of Romanian infrastructure can continue at a rapid pace and I hope this will happen as well,” he stressed.
“In the end, because the period we live in is complicated – and I am not referring to political complications, but to the pandemic – and along these lines it is important to move safely and be protected. So, dear bucharest, do not forget to use this new line: mask, distance, hygiene, to overcome this difficult period, “said the president.
“And finally, Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Minister, many, many works await you. Some started, to be completed, some planned, and we discussed in the subway about expansion projects,” Klaus Iohannis told Ludovic Orban.
