Kim Kardashian joins the #StopProfitForHate movement, along with other celebrities, and will freeze her Facebook and Instagram accounts for 24 hours. The campaign wants to draw the attention of Facebook to stop misinformation in the online environment, reports Mediafax.

Kim Kardashian closed her Facebook and Instagram accounts for 24 hours on Wednesday. The star joins other celebrities, including Demi Lovato, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lawrence, in the #StopProfitForHate campaign and invites her fans to do the same.

The action comes as a form of protest against the spread of fake news. The campaign calls on Facebook to take a stand, to stop racism, violence and hatred on the social media platform.

“I like being able to connect directly with you through Instagram and Facebook, but I can’t sit still as these platforms continue to allow the spread of hate, propaganda and misinformation,” said Kim Kardashian.

Facebook said it will partner with civil rights groups to find tools to combat misinformation.
