This is the only form of victory for Donald Trump

I translated a commentary by Alan Dershowitz published by the Gatestone Institute. Less informed readers should know that Dershowitz is an eminent American constitutional expert. He is also a Democrat, with political ties and sympathies to the Biden camp.

But all these elements make his comment even more interesting, in which Trump’s possibilities are not buried.

President Trump has only one path to victory, and this requires a perfect alignment of the stars, which at the moment seems unlikely.

The goal of Trump’s team of lawyers is not to get 270 votes from large voters for their client. This seems beyond the realm of reality. Its purpose is to question the 270 votes that Biden needs to be elected president of the Electoral College.

Given that this is a zero-sum game, how could Biden be denied 270 votes without Trump reaching that number?

The answer to this question hints at what Trump’s team of lawyers is trying to do. If enough large voter votes are contested in mid-December and if those states certify fewer than 270 votes by that date, then Biden could theoretically be denied the required level of 270.

If this happens, then the fate of the elections shifts to the House of Representatives, as has happened several times in the 19th century.

Under the Constitution, the House votes for the president not through individual members, but through state delegations. Each state receives one vote, so it takes 26 states to elect the president.

Although the number of Democrats is greater than that of Republicans, there are several states with a majority of Republican representatives.

Therefore, if the election reaches the House, the Republicans will determine the next president.
