Spanish striker Cristian López (31 years old) admitted in the Greek press that he turned down CFR Cpluk to get to Aris Thessaloniki. The choice was not easy for the former Gruia player, putting it very well.

The footballer raised in the Real Madrid quarry negotiated, this summer, both with CFR Cluj and with Aris Thessaloniki, after terminating his contract with the Spanish second league team, Las Palmas. In the end, the Iberian chose to go to Greece, after choosing with his heart, as he himself admits in the Greek press.

Two years ago I had the opportunity to get here, but I decided to stay in France. This year, we had a proposal from Aris Thessaloniki and CFR Cluj. I know Romania, I have played there before. It was a bit complicated for me. It is a difficult decision. It was a club that I knew, but something in my heart told me to choose Aris. It’s a good opportunity for me“Cristian López told the Thessaloniki press.

Dan Petrescu rejected by a former CFR Cluj striker

Cristian López had a very good 2015/2016 season at CFR Cluj, with 12 goals, which earned him a transfer to the first league in France, Lens, for 500,000 euros.

This did not lead him to re-elect CFR Cluj in the contract dispute with Aris Thessaloniki, the fifth-place occupant in the last season of the Greek championship. Aris was eliminated in the second preliminary round of the Europa League by the Ukrainian team Kolos Kovalivka, score 1-2. From this point of view, Lopez could regret the choice, considering that CFR Cluj caught the groups. Romanian defender Cristian Ganea also plays for Aris, who played for Viitorul Constanza and Athletic Bilbao.

After leaving CFR Cluj, where he won the Romanian Cup in 2016, Cristian López also visited Lens, Angers, Hatta Club and Las Palmas.

FCSB and Dinamo were also looking for him

In 2018, Gigi Becali tried to bring him to the FCSB, but in the end the Spanish striker raised at Real Madrid did not make it to the red-and-white team. Dinamo also loved López, but collided with the economic demands considered exaggerated by the footballer.

Cristian López demanded a salary of 15,000 euros to sign for Dinamo. In the end, Becali did not take him to the FCSB either, preferring at the time Raúl Rusescu.
