The government has prepared new price increases among the “goods” most used by Romanians. That is, diesel, gasoline and cigarettes will become more expensive before the holidays, but also from January 1, since the Ministry of Finance has already approved the increase in excise duties.
Car fuels, but also cigarettes, will be more expensive next year.
The Ministry of Finance published on Wednesday the new level of excise duties valid as of January 1, 2021, writes România Reală.
Excise duties have increased significantly since January 1. No further approval is needed!
The level of special taxes applicable in 2021 was established by “updating with the increase in consumer prices officially communicated by the National Institute of Statistics,” according to the Ministry of Finance.
How much more expensive are fuels? For unleaded gasoline, the excise duty level increases by 53 lei, from 1,773.46 lei / 1,000 liters in 2020 to 1,827.13 lei / 1,000 liters in 2021.
So a liter of unleaded gasoline is almost 6 cents more expensive.
For leaded gasoline, the excise duty level increases from 2,085.97 lei / 1,000 liters to 2,149.09 lei / 1,000 liters, which is an increase of 63 lei.
So, a liter of leaded gasoline is more than 6 bani.
At the same time, for diesel, the excise duty increases from 1,625.37 lei / 1,000 liters to 1,674.55 lei / 1,000 liters, an increase of about 50 lei. So a liter of diesel is 5 money more expensive.
How much will a pack of cigarettes cost?
The excise tax on cigarettes increases from January 1, 2021 to 533.97 lei per thousand, after on January 1, 2020 the excise tax was set at 503.97 lei per thousand.
As of April 1, 2021, the level of excise duty on cigarettes will be 563.97 lei / 1000 cigarettes.
The authorities justify the increase in excise duties on cigarettes by preventing the infringement against Romania from being triggered by claiming that in the country the global excise duty on cigarettes does not represent at least 60% of the weighted average retail price of cigarettes released for consumption, as established by Directive 2011/64 / EU.
