“I think we have to learn to spend the budget as best we can. We have 118 subordinate federations. I asked: how many managers spend this money enough? 20. What are we going to do? They can’t fire you. We need to create a strategy and a legislation requiring performance. We need a system that gives direction, that tells us where we want to go. The disciplines with which more results can be obtained are the following, from my point of view: gymnastics, athletics, swimming, rowing, even cycling.
Cycling is the second Olympic sport in terms of number of medals in the fight, after athletics. We need 4-6 sports and a given address. Fencing could be in this first category. Dumbbells and handball. It is a very broad analysis, there are two priority criteria: disciplines and results. It is important to breed sports that can bring as many medals as possible. Soccer has its own management, it is not in the ministry. The fruit of the work will be seen in 12 years. I propose that, in one year, all children in Romania should start each school day with 45 minutes of exercise.
