Prime Minister Florin Cîţu said on Thursday that a discussion about a vaccine passport, supplemented by an internal measure on a bonus for those who are immunized, makes no sense at the moment, because it would create discrimination until all Romanians have a chance to obtain vaccinated.
“Those who are vaccinated already have a vaccination certificate. It is a certificate that says they have been vaccinated,” Cîțu said.
According to the prime minister, a vaccination certificate that would allow free movement would create discrimination in society, if not all Romanians are immunized.
“It makes no sense to present such a document and that is the discussion, I know, also at the European level. So, from our point of view, to present a document today until we have given all Romanians the opportunity to be vaccinated creates discrimination, because there are people who say: “Ok, I want to get vaccinated, but I couldn’t, because there were no vaccines and then I don’t understand why someone else who was vaccinated and was at another stage, the decision to get vaccinated before should have this vaccination certificate.
So, until we get everyone vaccinated, there is no point in talking about it. It seems to me a discussion that does not make sense at the moment, “said Florin Cîţu on B1 TV, asked if he sees the idea of the vaccine / passport certificate as feasible and even a bonus given to those who were immunized, according to Agerpres.
The European Commission wants to restart travel within the European Union and beyond its borders through what it calls the “digital green certificate”, a document that certifies that the traveler has been vaccinated against Covid-19.
EC President Ursula von der Leyen said the purpose of these certificates was “to ensure that people can enjoy freedom of movement without endangering public health.”
“The ‘Green Digital Certificate’ will be designed to facilitate freedom of movement and to ensure that, despite the restrictions that remain in place, it will only be used when justified and only at an appropriate level,” says the letter sent by Ursula von der. They read the United States, according to Politico.
