The United States, the country most affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the world, registered on Friday the highest balance of coronavirus infections since the beginning of the pandemic, reports the BBC.
According to data from state health authorities, 83,010 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Friday, the highest number of diseases since the start of the pandemic in the United States.
In the past week, infections also increased by 441,541, the largest increase in a 7-day period since the end of July. This new daily record exceeds the previous one by approximately 6,000, registered on July 17, of 76,842 cases.
The death toll from Covid-19 has also risen in the past six days, but remained significantly lower than the peak of deaths in April, the month in which 2,000 people died a day. US Surgeon General Jerome Adams has warned that the number of hospitalizations due to Covid-19 is increasing, but says the death rate is slightly lower than in the spring because care is better at this time.
The total case balance in the US reached 8.7 million and will likely top 9 million next week, given trends. Almost 230,000 Americans have died from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.
