The unique idea why a school in the country got money to bring tablets to children

[ad_1]

The Vasilați, in Călărași county, the principal continued to look for solutions to start school with all the children. Some in class, others at home, because that’s what the space allows. But to do so, the children needed tablets. And then came the saving idea: his school sandOn the agricultural land you own, and with the money you will collect, you will buy the tablets necessary for the online education of poor children. But the readjustment of education to times of pandemic does not stop here. It also affects teachers.

The professors finished their vacations and returned to the chancelleries. I spread the meter through the classes, I sanitize, I move, I calculate. Covid also destroyed the bohemian part of the school – no more pewmates! Sanitary regulations only accept distant students and … period.

“One child here, one alone, another child here, and so on, in this model. The child on the second bench is diagonal with three on the edge, three on the edge are diagonal and four on the back. These are the desks, with two children each, but there will only be one child in each bench ”, a teacher explains to the reporter, with the roulette wheel in hand.

The math of the pandemic reduces classroom space and divides classmates into groups that no longer meet at school. Some will study for two weeks at home, others for two weeks at school. Then vice versa. And so on, until the pandemic turns into an ugly memory and that’s it.

“Two fifth-grade groups remain in line. These groups come from classes with 30 children who will clearly be divided. At the moment, it is this hybrid model. What I am doing today, along with all my classmates, is looking for a place in this building for the largest possible number of secondary school classes, to work from the bench, in the face-to-face model ”, he explains. Iulia Stoica, director of the Vasilați school.

Rented tablets

The school’s experience in the spring revealed that 40% of students in Vasilați commune, Călărași, do not have the necessary logistics to participate in online courses, from home. And as the government tablets will not arrive anytime soon, and the parents still cannot afford to buy some of them connected to unlimited internet, the director found the solution to help them: he buys them tablets with the money that the Vasilați school receives for the land. agricultural lease to a farmer.

– That money was collected in an account where for us, now, it is a reserve, explains the director Iulia Stoica.

– Can you buy tablets in the lease?

– Yes. Yes! Exact.

On the other hand, in Romania with more than 1000 daily infections and many deficiencies in rural life, life in the department becomes a real adventure. Or a risk.

– We fear that we may not be able to cope with this situation. That parents may not understand how we should protect ourselves and we will be the first line, confesses Mihaela Curea, a teacher at the Vasilați school.

“Do you mean that you are also concerned about your health?”

“And for my health and that of my family.” Considering that I also have elderly parents and they are vulnerable people.

Proposal: ban teachers in crowded places

That is why, for general health reasons, the principal of the school in Vasilați, Bărăgan, would like the state to prohibit teachers from accessing crowded relaxation places during the school year.

“It should be regulated by an addition to the job description. I am a teacher, if I want to spend a weekend, I will have to take a 14-day unpaid leave. Because I have no responsibility not only for myself, but also for the children , for my colleagues and for all the people I interact with, ”says Iulia Stoica, director of the school in Vasilați.

There are also carefree schools: they are closed!

Two weeks before the first bell, Bărăgan also has carefree schools. That, because they will remain … closed. In Plătărești, in the village of Dorobanțu, the school is undergoing renovation. It has no workers on the job and cannot reopen on September 14.

In Cucuieți, another town in Plătărești, the school has just been built. It can be ready for Christmas or … at the big party, next year.

– This school also depends on how we raise the money, I hope this school will close in three months or so. But depending on the money we raise. If they do not pay us, he realizes that we will have to extend it for almost a year, explains the executor of the works.

In the commune of Plătărești we meet a teacher and the journalist is curious:

– Can I take the first class online, ma’am?

– It is very difficult. We have a surplus here, so to speak. Most of the mothers are unemployed and have been able to stay home with their students. Otherwise they know, they don’t know how to use technology.

– How can you teach a first grader to write online?

“That’s right … We have to shake his hand.” Yes…

The question remains unanswered and you are still searching for the answer.
