The prosecutors of the General Prosecutor’s Office ordered the performance of some expert reports on the medical equipment erected in the ATI section of the Piatra Neamț County Hospital in order to verify the hypothesis that the fire occurred as a consequence of its malfunction.

Following the fire on Saturday in the ATI section of the Piatra Neamț Regional Hospital, investigations are being carried out in rem for the crimes of wrongful death and culpable bodily injury, according to a statement from the Attorney General’s Office, cited by Mediafax.

Prosecutors say that expert reports and findings on the medical equipment were ordered to verify the hypothesis of fire as a result of its malfunction, and the objects collected for examination were sent to the competent and designated institutions for their expertise and findings.

Victim identification work also continued and new witnesses were heard.

During Saturday’s fire in the ATI section of the County Hospital in Piatra Neamț, 10 people died, intubated patients, sick from Covid 19. One of the doctors who tried to save the patients suffered numerous burns and was transferred for treatment to a hospital in Belgium.
