The story of the COVID patient who became an employee of the hospital where he was treated. Travel 55 kilometers to work

A man who became infected with the new coronavirus became an employee of the hospital where he was treated. After seeing how difficult it is for the doctors to deal with all the patients, he applied for discharge to be accepted as a volunteer. At that time I was working as an assistant in a private company.

Andrei Şarca is 31 years old and he and his family became patients at the COVID hospital in Vaslui in April. He does not know how he got it, but because he had mild symptoms, he was able to help medical staff and care for patients in the room where he was hospitalized.

Andrei Şarca: I said to help and offer, in turn, the same support to patients with COVID, thinking that the understanding I have towards these patients is completely different from someone who has not gone through the same situation. .

Monica Aioanei, infectious disease doctor: The fact that he was in this situation … he knows how much the human part really matters. Beyond medication, beyond anything that can be done in a hospital.

Andrei commutes daily from Vaslui to the Bârlad hospital, where he now works, that is, 55 km, but says he does not think much about helping the sick. He was also the first plasma donor in Vaslui County. He did everything he could to help those who suffered from the SARS VOC 2 infection. When he was discharged, he wanted to volunteer at the hospital, but received another offer from management: to be hired, so the staff was insufficient.

Andrei Şarca: It was established at a managerial level that more staff is needed, in order to give other colleagues the opportunity to have the vacancy established by the state and to be able to offer leave to the rest, to increase the team. I was contacted by the head of the department and, implicitly, by the manager, if I wanted to come as an employee, not as a volunteer. I accepted and from 1.08.2020 I became the new member of the great family of Infectious Diseases.

Cristina Sârbu, Healthcare Director: We work at a hellish pace. We had 87 patients in a Department of Internal Medicine at the same time, now in July, when this wave hit our county.

The hospital manager says that Andrei can enter the contest after the alert status is over, to become an employee with the proper documents.

Daniela Borș, manager of the Emergency Hospital of Bârlad: You are employed during the alert state, because no competitions are organized during the alert state, after when the alert state ends we organize a competition and perhaps manage to become an employee of our hospital. I could not believe it. Sincere. He is a very involved boy, eager to help.

The Bârlad hospital has almost a thousand employees, of which 100 doctors and 450 nurses.
