Former CCR judge, according to today’s decision: “The state of alert is inappropriate for the current situation. It is incompatible with the restriction of rights and freedoms “

After today’s CCR decision on the constitutionality of the state of alert, you must understand that this cannot restrict your rights and freedoms.

I asked a former CCR judge about you, who explained today’s decision.

“I said that the state of alert is inappropriate for the current situation in Romania, which wants to apply some measures to combat an epidemic.” The ordinance (which regulates the state of alert, n.r.) is incompatible with the restriction of civil rights and liberties. On the contrary, its text talks about the fact that it is organized on the principle of respecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, “former CCR judge Toni Greblă told MEDIAFAX.

The former judge also explained what he should understand about today’s decision: “That a state of siege can be installed in certain situations, but that the restriction of civil rights and liberties is debatable if it is constitutional as the Government wants.”

The clarifications come after the Constitutional Court declared, today, the state of alert.
