Gabriela Vărzaru was 49 years old, the mother of three children and had recently become a grandmother. The woman died after the doctor on duty at Craiova County Hospital allegedly sent her home with a cursory diagnosis: intercostal neuralgia. Three hours later, the 49-year-old patient died. Following an autopsy, coroners determined that the woman actually had hemorrhagic pancreatitis.

His 27-year-old son allegedly fell off the fifth floor of the block where he lived after trying to chase some pigeons out the window, his girlfriend said. According to her, it was not a suicide.

The Craiova police have opened an investigation to establish the circumstances in which the young man’s death occurred.
