The smartphone that collects user data.

According to a security researcher, a certain smartphone (which it owns) collects and sends data to remote servers. This can be a disaster for phone users who use their smartphones to obtain important information that others do not want to see.

We use our smartphones intensively today, such as sending messages, calling, and surfing the Internet. Some of us even use them for work and access important information that others don’t want to see.

Unfortunately for Xiaomi users, Forbes news revealed that the company’s devices apparently collect browsing data from its users.

That’s according to security researcher Gabi Cirlig, who discovered this on his Redmi Note 8 smartphone. He found that the collected data was sent to remote servers hosted by Alibaba and rented by Xiaomi.

The data collected includes things like search history. It also doesn’t seem to matter if the user uses incognito mode, because information is still being collected.

More troubling, the data also included non-web activities, such as screens, status bar, and configuration page. Meanwhile, Xiaomi denied these findings, despite the fact that Forbes sent evidence to the company, such as videos showing that the information was collected even in incognito mode on the user’s smartphone.

A spokesperson said: “This video shows the collection of anonymous data on the user’s smartphone, which is one of the most common solutions adopted by Internet companies to improve the overall browser experience by analyzing information that cannot be personally identified. “
