The prefect of Sibiu, Mircea Cretu, apologized to the doctor who was quick to request several beds for intensive care, due to the large number of serious cases of coronavirus. It was “an unfortunate situation,” the official said.

“I begin by telling you that today I had a discussion with Dr. Halmaghi, to whom I apologized for yesterday’s reaction, it was a regrettable situation. At the same time, I would like to thank the doctor for the understanding and professionalism that she showed me. As prefect, I cannot reorganize hospitals alone, nor can I make decisions in an institution that I do not direct, and the involvement of all the people who can contribute to improving our situation is necessary. At today’s meeting, we asked all hospital managers for concrete proposals to resolve the situation facing medical personnel. It is undoubtedly an enormous effort what doctors do every day. Words are too small to help you at this time. They need space, materials and equipment, colleagues to help them successfully carry out the medical act ”, said the prefect of Sibiu, quoted by Mediafax.

He added that in the municipality the situation is difficult both for doctors and authorities, as well as for citizens.

Mircea Cretu said he was in the Municipal Hospital of Mediaș, where the first COVID patients are currently hospitalized. Here, 20 beds were created, two of which have the specific equipment of the ATI department: “The only need for them to function at maximum capacity and efficiency is human resources, we are talking about 3 ATI doctors who can constantly supervise the patients. patients. who will need the 2 beds equipped for ATI ”, he said.

As for the Sibiu County Emergency Clinical Hospital, a procedure has been started to acquire an oxygen station that will serve 6 beds with ATI equipment located in the modular structure.

“As for the situation in the Emergency Reception Unit of the Regional Hospital, urgent measures must be taken because the conditions in which the staff carry out their activity are difficult. Dr. Halmaghi told me in detail today how they work at UPU Sibiu, and I will personally do everything in my power to implement the proposals that she has made. Specifically, we are talking about complementing UPU staff, as well as expanding the area where patients are suspected of having COVID-19 infection. Tomorrow morning we will see exactly what is needed to set up the UPU Support Union Hall and we will notify you as soon as we know exactly how long it will be ready, “added the prefect.

Dr. Voichița Halmaghi, from UPU Sibiu, intervened on Monday at the meeting of the Regional Committee for Emergency Situations (CJSU) to draw attention to the fact that there are no more places for patients at the Sibiu Emergency Hospital with COVID.

Prefect Mircea Cretu admonished her. “We are doing wonderfully what you say now. Listen, do you want me to tell you about my discontent now also regarding the Ambulance and the hospitals?” Said the prefect. In addition, the prefect replied to the doctor who spoke like a journalist: ” Hey? Now pretend you’re in the press, really. Do you know for the first time now or is it the first day you realize you still need beds? “
