PSD President Marcel Ciolacu sent a new letter to President Klaus Iohannis explaining the absence of the PSD delegation in the consultations at the Cotroceni Palace.

“Dear Mr. President,

In his public speeches in recent weeks, he has made an unequivocal statement on the appointment of the Prime Minister.

Ignoring the will of the citizens, expressed by democratic vote, you announced publicly both before and after the elections that you have already made the decision to appoint a representative of the parties that lost in the elections of December 6, 2020.

Therefore, the discussions that you are going to have today with the political parties only imitate the principle of constitutional consultation to which you referred in your invitation.

Basically, what is going to happen today in the Cotroceni Palace is an offensive masquerade against democracy, an act of defiance against the citizens who participated in the parliamentary elections.

The Social Democratic Party refuses to participate in this farce. We refuse to validate with our presence this political circus that begins to resemble more and more the government of the CDRs from 1996 to 2000.

Instead, we will make a determined opposition in the Romanian Parliament and we will use all political, legal and constitutional means to defend the interests of the citizens who gave us their trust in the last elections, ”Marcel Ciolacu wrote to President Klaus Iohannis.

Last week, Marcel Ciolacu sent another letter to the president asking him to intervene so that the government changes the way the budget is distributed to local communities, accusing the liberals of not allocating money to the PSD mayors.
