The president of the Romanian Football Federation, Răzvan Burleanu, confirmed, this Thursday, during a press conference, that the roof of the National Stadium has serious infrastructure problems that could not allow the matches to be played in the future. It says that if the match between FCSB and Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe cannot be held at this stadium, the sports base in Mogoșoaia will be available.

“Certainly, the Capital Mayor’s Office will solve all the problems until next year. I know the problem. I have not yet discussed it with the representatives of the Capital City Council. I discussed it with Mr. Vali Argăseală. I offered him his support, if FCSB does not manage to unblock this situation in the end, the match will be played at the Mogoşoaia sports base that we have.

We also suffer from lawn maintenance. The last investments we had in Romania in terms of infrastructure were in the 70s, which means that we lacked this knowledge to understand how to maintain and improve stadiums.

All these investments that are taking place today in Romania should provoke not only a debate, but also a decision regarding the administrators of these stadiums, in order to ensure that the stadiums do not become centers of costs, but of benefits ”, Burleanu said.

Likewise, the Mayor General of the Capital, Nicușor Dan, ordered an investigation by the mayor’s control body to verify the irregularities regarding maintenance.

Representatives of the company that installed the retractable roof produced a report showing that it poses a risk of collapse, according to Stitileprotv.ro. He would not have been jailed when it snowed in Bucharest and the weight of the snow would have affected his structure.

In 2016, DNA reported allegations of abuse of power, in relation to the way in which payments were made for the National Arena. Based on the investigation, the DNA officials established that, although the initial project envisaged a fixed tin roof, for which there was an approval from the ISU, the project was later modified.
