The quarantine in Bucharest is no longer just a scenario. A well-known journalist explains why

In the conditions of the alarming increase in the number of infections with the new coronavirus, journalist Dan Andronic sent a message in response to the question that was on the lips of the people of Bucharest.

“Starting next week, Bucharest will be in total quarantine… Schools will be closed, etc.”

In fact, invited to Anteena 3, the director of EVZ specified that an increase in the contagion rate in Bucharest from 2.28 per thousand inhabitants to 2.38 per thousand inhabitants in one day shows that the Capital can be closed.

Dan Andronic also underlined that President Klaus Iohannis stated that he will no longer institute quarantine at the country level, but not at the Bucharest level.

“I know there is a report on the president’s table with proposals to postpone the elections,” Dan Andronic revealed.

However, the journalist stated in this regard:

“The idea is that the president wants these elections to be held on time. And if he wants this, urgent measures must be applied in Bucharest, which has once again become a star city …”.

A few hours later, they separate the Capital from a total quarantine

In fact, the question on the lips of all Bucharestians gets an answer with mathematical precision: there are several tens of hours left until the conditions of total quarantine are met.

The National Institute of Statistics (INS) presented the data according to which, in the last two weeks, 4,969 new infections with Chinese coronavirus were confirmed in Bucharest, reported to a population of 2,151,665 inhabitants. This statistic shows that the infection rate in Bucharest is 2.2.

The capital could enter the red scenario if in the next two weeks a total of 6,455 cases of coronavirus infection are registered, that is, an average of 461 daily cases.

According to Graphs.ro, which has already calculated that the average of a week is 406 cases, the distance that separates us from the disaster is still only 50 cases per day. It remains to be seen whether the measures announced in recent hours will succeed in stopping or even reversing the trend.

According to the data published this Friday by the Strategic Communication Group, the situation in the regions where the incidence of coronavirus cases exceeded 1.5 cases per thousand inhabitants is as follows: Bucharest – 2.2, Alba – 1.98, Vâlcea -1.98, Iași – 1.80, Bacău – 1.72, Teleorman – 1.62, Neamț – 1.62, Vaslui – 1.59.

Above the rate of 3, a city must be quarantined.
