A Belgian official accidentally made public the negotiated prices for anti-COVID vaccines, writes Politico.eu. The post was removed shortly, but not fast enough for the press to save the reported data. The cheapest vaccine negotiated by the EU is the Oxford-AstraZeneca, which costs less than 2 euros, and the most expensive is Modern, 18 dollars.
The Belgian Secretary of State for Budget and Consumer Protection, Eva De Bleeker, mistakenly posted on Twitter this Thursday a table with the price of each vaccine contracted by the EU and how much Belgium will spend on them in total, Politico reports, citing the site Belgian website. HLN.

The vaccine price list published by Eva De Bleeker:
- Oxford – AstraZeneca: 1.78 euros
- Johnson & Johnson: $ 8.50
- Sanofi-GSK: 7.56 euros
- CureVac: 10 euros
- Pfizer – BioNTech: 12 euros
- Modern: $ 18
The table published by the Belgian official also shows that this country has contracted more than 33 million vaccines, for a total value of almost 280 million euros.
The European Commission has so far refused to disclose prices for vaccines negotiated with producers, arguing that they are confidential.
According to HLN, the European Commission’s reaction to the Belgian press disclosure was: “We did not comment on what happened in Belgium, but vaccine prices are confidential.”
