Thus, by decision of the Chamber of Deputies, people who live in the areas listed in the annexes of the law, may retire two years faster. The list included 27 towns in different counties in Romania, where in the past there were plants or mines that produced the most pollution.

The legislative proposal aims to regulate the modification of paragraph 5, article 65 of Law no. 263/2010, with the aim of expanding the categories of people who benefit from the reduction of the standard retirement age by two years, without penalty, if they have lived for at least 30 years in some areas affected by residual pollution, as well as in a radius of 8 km. around the contaminated site.

The parliamentarians also imposed clear rules so that these legal provisions are not used by other people, who have never lived in the mentioned areas. For this, one of the requirements is that the person requesting the application of these legal provisions has lived in the area for 30 years, affected by residual contamination due to the extraction, preparation and combustion of coal or oil shale, extraction and preparation of uranium ores. , extraction and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous minerals that contain dust or emissions of greenhouse gases, ammonia and derivatives, copper, lead, sulfur, nitrogen, phosphorus, cadmium, arsenic, zinc, manganese, fluorine, chlorine, feldspar and silicon o radiation from radioactive minerals, hydrogen sulfide, trivalent chromium, hexavalent chromium, cyanides, metal powders and / or metallurgical coke, sulfur oil processing, gasoline desulfurization, paraffin and paraffin-free oil, crude oil distillation for the production of fuel oil and oils.

The localities for which the reduction of the standard retirement age by two years applies are Baia Mare, Călăraşi, Copşa Mică, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Slatina, Târgu Mureş, Târnăveni, Turnu Măgurele and Aninoasa. Also includes Baia de Criş, Băiţa, Brad, Călan, Certej, Criscior, Deva, Ghelari, Hunedoara, Lupeni, Orăştie, Petrila, Petroşani, Şoimuş, Teliuc, Uricani, Veţel, Vulcan from Hunedoara County.
