USR deputy Cristina Iurișniți complained about the insulting statements that one of the AUR leaders, Sorin Lavric, made against women and announced that she would notify the National Council to Combat Discrimination (CNCD).

Several extracts written by Sorin Lavric, containing insults against women, have appeared in the press. Lavric is one of the leaders of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), the most recent party to enter the Romanian Parliament.

Cristina Iurișniți, president of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, wrote on her Facebook page that this new party, AUR, represents “a new wave of hatred, discrimination and incitement to abusive behavior through speech that affects on human dignity “

“We must react with firmness and perseverance! Equality of opportunities and gender is a fundamental constitutional right, but also an international commitment to which Romania is a party for the observance of fundamental human rights. As a deputy and president of the Commission of Equal Opportunities of the Chamber of Deputies, I will make a complaint to the CNCD to send a clear message that this type of messages cannot be tolerated. (…) I will send a notification to CNCD! After Doina Pană, Vilcov, Olguta and Liviu Pop, this citizen will have to learn that there are laws that we must all respect, ”wrote Cristina Iurișniți on Facebook.

The leader GOLD Sorin Lavric states in one of his writings published in 2019 that “men do not seek women with cunning, depth or lucidity” and that “a thousand women learned together do nothing but the fascination of one of those who have the privilege of mules “.

This is not the first time that Sorin Lavric has been accused of insulting and discriminatory statements. The Romanian Writers Union recently announced that it is sacking the new AUR MP and that it is delimiting its “radical political statements”.

The union “took note with amazement that Mr. Sorin Lavric, a new parliamentarian, made about the democratic framework in which political life takes place in our country”, is shown in a press release.

“These opinions and attitudes represent the personal views of Mr. Sorin Lavric and do not involve in any way the Romanian Writers ‘Union. We mention that, following his political involvement, Mr. Sorin Lavric’s contractual relations with the Romanian Writers’ Union and the magazine “Romania literară”, naturally and necessarily, end. As a union of creators in the literary field, the Union of Writers of Romania is a democratic institution, which brings together writers of all ethnic groups residing in our country, whose rights they defend and promote. The union does not pursue a partisan policy, “according to the statement.
