The Minister of Education, Sorin Cîmpeanu, told Digi24 that the request regarding the one-month spring break was made by the Ministry of Health and that at the moment only proposals are being discussed, there is no order to modify the structure of the school year. being officially signed.

The minister added that the intention was to create a bridge between the two holidays scheduled for April, which overlap with a peak epidemiological period, announced by health professionals.
“This month of vacation was expressly requested by the Ministry of Health, strongly based on epidemiological criteria.
However, the schools were unable to remain open in April. It was a variant proposed by the Ministry of Education, according to the alert law. It is not the only option.
If there are better options in the interest of the students, The Ministry of Education is not stubborn that it has the best option. We are waiting for constructive proposals in the interest of the students from the interlocutors. We owe it to ourselves to identify the best solutions, even if we lose them.

Sorin Cîmpeanu conveyed that both the Baccalaureate and the National Assessment could be supported on the scheduled dates and the second semester will be extended only one week, from June 18 to 25, if this proposal is considered acceptable by the social partners.
According to the minister, the alternative proposals that will be put forward must take into account the maintenance of the spring break between April 2 and May 4, since this is a request based on epidemiological considerations.
