According to the Ministry of Justice, this request was sent on May 3, 2019 to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova.

On June 7, 2019, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova sent an address to the Romanian Ministry of Justice, informing that the extradition procedure cannot be started, as Cristian Rizea is also a citizen of the Republic of Moldova.

The Justice Ministry claims it sent an extradition request to the Republic of Moldova on Wednesday, after President Igor Dodon withdrew Rizea’s citizenship from that country.

Former PSD MP Cristian Rizea, who fled Romania after being convicted, was arrested in Chisinau on Tuesday and the authorities have started extradition proceedings.

Rizea was accused of claiming directly from businessman Lucian Colţea the amount of 300,000 euros, disguised in the form of two fictitious loan contracts. The money was requested in exchange for Rizea’s promise, later fulfilled, that he would intervene in the Autonomous Administration of State Protocol Heritage (RAAPPS) and in the Chiajna commune City Council to resolve certain personal interests that the businessman had. two authorities.
