The list of countries that Romania considers to be of high epidemiological risk was updated on Sunday night by the National Committee for Emergency Situations. People arriving in Romania from these countries, regions or territories included in the so-called “yellow zone” must be quarantined for 14 days.

The CNSU motivates its measure by the persistence of a greater number of infected in the national territory, as well as by the daily appearance of new cases of infected both by the circulation of the virus in the national territory and by its importation with the return. possibly infected people. “Issues that exert constant pressure on the management capacity of the administrative-territorial units and
health system ”, is shown in the text of Decision No. 17 of 03/14/2021.

The list was compiled at the proposal of the National Institute of Public Health.

In preparing the list of “yellow” areas, the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants was taken into account, according to data published by the ECDC on Thursday, March 11, 2021, for the period from February 22 to March 7 of 2021.

List of countries with high epidemiological risk

The list includes 51 states or territories. The most important change from the list above is that after a long time, The United States is no longer on the list. As well, Canada, a country where there are many Romanian emigrants, remains off the list.

In contrast, many of the European states, including Spain, Italy, France, Hungary, but also the United Kingdom, where there are significant Romanian communities, remain in the “yellow zone”. In the case of Spain, CNSU affirms that in the last week this country reported fewer cases, after the elimination of duplicate data from the beginning of the pandemic to the present, so that the incidence rate in the last week did not reflect the facts .

Furthermore, the Republic of Moldova remains in the yellow zone.

Israel, Bulgaria, but also the Maldives, generally a target of Romanian tourists, also remain on the list of countries for which quarantine is required.

However, Turkey and Greece are no longer on the yellow list. And Germany, removed from the list since the February 19 update, remains in the “green” zone.
