School has finally started, but the picture looks more like a fictional movie. The children were separated from their parents at the school gate and kept away from their colleagues and teachers.
In the classrooms it no longer smelled of flowers, but disinfected, there were no more tears of joy and hugs, but recommendations on how to wash our hands properly. And perhaps the saddest thing about all this uncertain 2020, the bell no longer rang, because the students go from different classes, so that the corridors are well ventilated. But we have the first generation neck mask, and we wish them every success!
At 7 o’clock this morning, with big eyes and red cheeks, squatting in the arms of their mothers, Maria, Ana and Mia met their scared and curious eyes at the same time. They are all in grade zero and came to school for the first time.
Without the pomp of other years, without the courtyard full of parents and students, priests and officials, the school opened its doors only to children.
Father: “She is our first and only daughter and as you can imagine, I would have liked to be with her.”
Teachers picked up their future students from the door.
The teachers gave the children to hold a piece of rope one meter away from each other towards the entrance of the classroom. On the Indian line, they said goodbye to their parents and grandparents and took the first big step in life.
María lost the first meeting in class with the students, but from tomorrow she promises to be more courageous. Her colleagues went through the epidemiological classification one by one.
In the classrooms, the children sat down and waited patiently for the next instructions.
They knew they were not allowed to pack at home, but they brought their water bottles and even though they were thirsty, they did not forget the protective mask.
One by one, in different classes, the high school students arrived, more eager than ever to meet again.
Although the authorities recommended that students not come to school with flowers, some could not give them up.
In high school, things are much more relaxed.
The atmosphere changed in the classroom, when they realized that there were only half of them and the other classmates were at home.
high school girl: “I am disappointed with what I found. It is not the same environment. The hugs are missing, the other colleagues, everything that was before, when I went out, when I did not have these masks.”
More than 12,000 schools awaited their students in today’s schools, including the Fâstâci school. Its construction began in 2006 and cost more than 3.2 million euros.
There were also special festivities at the beginning of the year for private schools. At the Lauder-Reut compound, the latest class of high school graduates handed the baton to younger colleagues.
The best were awarded even by the Extraordinary Ambassador of Israel. And at Cambridge School, the start came with a safety lesson for school children and a gift for the pandemic. An individual kit with masks, gloves and disinfectant, plus a guide.
The first day of school, with the students physically in class, sitting in those chairs in the schoolyards or in front of laptops connected to the Internet where it exists, is the first jump of this school year like never has been another.
Those in class 0 also knew the teachers by sight and voice, and the high school students reviewed the conducting class. In total, 2,800,000 students and more than 200,000 teachers began the school year in the midst of a pandemic. In the autumn of next year we will count all the successes: from the teachers, from the parents of the students and from the authorities.
