Former police officer Dan Hosu, husband of DIICOT chief Giorgiana Hosu, was sentenced on Thursday, September 24 by the Bucharest Court to three years in prison with suspension in the “Carpathian” case, for committing crimes of instigating illegal access to a computer system and instigate use of non-advertising information.

The acquittal in the case of the crime of influence peddling was issued based on the article of the Criminal Procedure Code according to which “the deed does not exist.” In the case of the crime of bribery, the acquittal was issued based on the article according to which “the deed is not provided for in criminal law.”

In this case, the judges excluded the interceptions made by the SRI officers, based on some decisions of the CCR.
