Eight million students have returned to classes in more than 28,000 schools and colleges in Spain. The authorities hired tens of thousands of teachers and established a clear protocol in the event of the COVID-19 disease. The first week already brought the first infections among teachers and students, writes Mediafax.

The children of Spain resumed their classes amid a veritable explosion of new cases of COVID-19.

To avoid illness, smaller groups were established in schools and all institutions were equipped with sanitation kits, thermometers, and additional staff.

While sanitary regulations have been strictly enforced so far, cases have appeared these days in at least 53 schools.

Fortunately, the authorities preventively closed two secondary schools and two kindergartens before the start of the school year.

With all the emotions and fears of the first week of school, children, parents, and teachers have learned a new lesson about life in the pandemic.

Dori is a high school teacher at a Madrid school and says she welcomes her students with a thermometer in hand, after which she watches to disinfect her hands and shoes when necessary.

“Before entering the classrooms, the children disinfect their shoes with a mat that contains chlorine and other cleaning substances. Then I go to a disinfectant gel dispenser and wash my hands well and then go into the classroom,” says Dori Herranz, teacher.

Despite the fact that Spain has registered almost 5,000 new COVID-19 illnesses, Guillermo is willing to take his little girl to school again. Parents at this school have received a series of recommendations and are responsible for managing symptoms before leaving for school.

“We take care of checking the temperature at home before we go out and come back and say who we were in contact with. In principle, we are not afraid, as long as we do not end up in worse situations, such as during the state of emergency. We don’t have to worry too much, “said Guillermo, the father of a child in Spain.
