The national poll shows little indication of increased support for the president beyond his supporter base.
Trump has repeatedly dismissed the severity of the pandemic as something that will go away on its own, ridiculing Biden, most recently a week ago, for wearing a permanent face mask, despite the virus having infected millions of people. and caused the closure of economic activities and schools.
According to the poll, among adults expected to vote in the November 3 election, 51 percent support Biden and 41 percent support Trump. Additionally, 67% of Americans support stopping campaign rallies and 59% believe that presidential debates should be postponed until Trump recovers from his Covid-19 infection. It is unclear whether Trump’s illness will affect the next presidential debate, scheduled for October 15.
