The first day of school, after six months of a pandemic, begins with uncertainties, fears and shortcomings.

Three million children start school today, under special conditions, amid the COVID pandemic. Of these, 100,000 will not be able to take their place in the bank, but will do their home schooling, online. This is at a theoretical level, because in practice not everyone has tablets and internet access, although the authorities have boasted all summer that these problems will be solved before the first campaign.

There are new problems that are added to those already known at the beginning of each school year: lack of textbooks, lack of bathrooms, lack of operating permits from the ISU.

Students who will have the possibility to go to school will do so alternatively, most, or in their entirety, in the case of schools.lor green areas.

They also fear the new coronavirus parentsas well as teachers. Almost 150 teachers they were urgently withdrawn a few days before the start of the school year. Alți aAlmost 300 are already infectedand the new coronavirus, I am the networkand in quarantine and approx. 100 are internaland at the hospital.

In Bucharest, several schools that were initially on the yellow stage asked to go to the red stage because the rehabilitation works are not ready. In total, there are 29 schools that will remain closed. The remaining 607 will operate on the yellow stage, with hybrid education.

In 12,423 schools, students will be able to physically attend classes, while in 4,915 the hybrid learning scenario will be adopted. Nationwide, in 262 schools, students will learn exclusively online.

The official school has not yet started and a first problem appeared in the Alba Iulia military high school, where all the students who will have a barracks regime were tested, and three of them were confirmed with the new coronavirus. The school is on the green stage, but after this incident a decision is expected on Monday about what will happen next.

All specialists warned that an increase in coronavirus cases is expected in the next period due to the start of schools. There are calls for responsibility and observance of the rules, but also to maintain this behavior at home, after returning from school. Experts point out that the virus has been milder in children, but a lot is still known and the evolution is quite unpredictable. The key date for this important step in the context of the pandemic would be around October 1.

STRUCTURE OF THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR

Semester I – 17 weeks of courses (September 14 – January 29, 2021)
Second semester – 17 weeks of courses (February 8 – June 18, 2021)

For the final classes of high school, the school year has 32 weeks of courses and ends on June 4, 2021.

For the 8th grade, the school year has 33 weeks of courses and ends on June 11, 2021, while for the high school classes – technology branch, except for the final classes and for the vocational education classes, the school year has 37 weeks of classes.

The national program “School of the opposite” will be developed, by choice, between October 5, 2020 and June 4, 2021, for a period of 5 consecutive business days, the planning of which is decided by the educational unit.

STUDENT HOLIDAYS

Intra-semester holidays (preschool and primary education): October 26 – November 1, 2020

Winter Break: December 23, 2020 – January 10, 2021

Vacation between semesters: January 30 – February 7, 2021)

Spring break
– Catholic Easter (April 2-11)
– Orthodox Easter (April 30 – May 9)

Summer Vacation: June 18, 2021 – the September 2021 date when courses for the 2021-2022 school year will begin.
