Although the vote is secret, with ballots, both the PSD and PNL, USR and PMP deputies announced that they will vote in public in favor of lifting the immunity.

The UDMR also announced that it is voting for the lifting of Bănicioiu’s immunity, announced the leader of this parliamentary group, Benedek Zacharie. Parliamentarian Ana Birchall also announced that she would vote to lift her immunity.

Former Minister Nicolae Bănicioiu, suspected by DNA of influence peddling and bribery, considers the accusations in the press to be false and affirms that he wants to have access to the file as soon as possible. Prosecutors have asked Parliament to approve the prosecution of Nicolae Bănicioiu, suspected of influence peddling and bribery, when he was minister. DNA sent 182 volumes to the Chamber of Deputies.

According to prosecutors, “between December 21, 2012 and March 5, 2014, the person, as a minister, would have accepted the promise of two businessmen and would have received directly from one of them, the total amount of 1,292,122 lei allowing himself to be believed that he has influence over the Minister of Health and the public servants of this institution and that he will determine them to carry out or not the acts that were part of their functions ”.

Subsequently, the same person allegedly received from the same businessmen, through an accomplice, suspected in the case, the total amount of 2,612,389 lei in relation to the exercise of ministerial functions, a position he held between 05.03.2014-17.11 .2015“, DNA is also transmitted.

The former Minister of Youth and former Minister of Health Nicolae Bănicioiu is in his fourth term as a deputy, being elected each time on the PSD lists.

In May 2018, he joined Pro Romania, a party led by Victor Ponta.
