In the 2020 election year, the municipality and its subordinate institutions broke the record for money spent on advertising.

Of the 40 million lei spent on the mandate, almost half it went to the Municipal Company Advertising and Exhibition this year alone, according to Libertatea.

In addition to this money, Firea spent in his mandate other large sums, through subordinate institutions, such as ARCUB, theaters and some municipal companies.

In total, it is about 7.5 million euros (36 million lei), public money with which they were paid, in the period 2016-2020, brochures, leaflets, television and subway advertisements, meshes and billboards about the consolidation of some buildings, on works on bridges and passages, announcements at fairs, festivals and competitions, also shows the cited source.

During Gabriela Firea’s tenure as mayor general, the largest sums of money allocated to advertising were, according to the aforementioned source:

Administration Hospitals and Medical Services (ASSMB): over 10.5 million lei;


Municipal Administration of Consolidation of Buildings with Seismic Risk – more than 9.7 million lei;

General Directorate of Social Assistance: 7.1 million lei;

STB: 5.2 million lei;

CREART (organizes festivals, contests, creative workshops, fairs; also organizes the annual Christmas fair) – Center for seniors 5.5 million lei – almost 1.9 million lei.

City Hall of the capital: almost 2.3 million lei for ten contracts.
