The daughter of a patient who died in the Piatra Neamţ county hospital fire said her mother was fine when she left the hospital and went to her brother’s house to take some things with her.
“It was fine. I was expecting to be resurrected and I had no chance. If my mother didn’t send me to carry her luggage, I would die with her. I don’t know what happened. I know I left my mother well, I was at my brother’s house to bring some suitcases and I heard there was smoke in the hospital. I went back to see if my mother had oxygen, if they had not cut off her oxygen, and found her dead. I have nothing to blame this hospital, because all the doctors, all the nurses took very good care of my mother. All the doctors, nurses, nurses did their best. I work at an inhuman pace, “explained the daughter of one of the patients who died in the fire, called to the hospital morgue on Sunday .
When asked by the press why the patients were moved from the third floor to the second floor, the woman replied: “I don’t know the details of the move, I just found it moved.”
Another woman says that her father had cancer and was hospitalized, in the first phase, oncology, and after testing positive for COVID he was transferred to resuscitation. He also said that he received a phone call on Saturday night at 11:00 p.m. and it was announced that his father had passed away.
“He had cancer, he was admitted to oncology. Later, they analyzed him, found him with COVID and took him to resuscitation,” explained the girl of the deceased patient.
After visiting the hospital morgue on Sunday, November 15, he said he had not resolved anything and was told that he would receive a phone call after identifying his father.
“I did not solve anything! We are waiting for you to call us, identify you, see you. Some procedures are being followed, we do not know. It seems absurd to me! You do not know the people who died? I know nothing! What I needed last night. Waiting for investigation! What investigation? The system is dead! “added the woman.
Another person explained that the man who died in the fire was her brother-in-law and that she had been informed from the hospital about his death around 11:30 pm, but she already knew it on television.
“At 23.30, 00.00, the hospital informed us. We already knew from TV. It’s sad, it’s painful, “said the man’s sister-in-law.
When asked by journalists who he thinks should be responsible for the tragedy at the Piatra Neamţ Hospital, he said: “I don’t know. He has a daughter from Italy and has already said today that he is suing the hospital here. It is outrageous that this is happening. Besides the fact that he and the others were in the conditions in which this fire was going to occur, it is unspeakable ”.
The daughter of another patient, Ana Sandu, reported on Antena 3 that her father escaped alive because he could not hospitalize him in the ATI ward, where the fire broke out. She says the family was disappointed in the situation, but when she saw what happened Saturday night at the hospital, she sighed in relief.
“It just came to our notice then. Through an acquaintance, through a family member, we could have done this, go ahead. But today, seeing what happened last night, I sighed in relief. I even told my mother that I did. we went there, he was no longer and was our acquaintance today. We still hope to see our father, because he is still in the hospital and has not recovered 100%. I don’t want to think about what happens to those families, to those children who they may not have seen their parents in a long time. How am I in this situation, “said Ana Sandu, this Sunday in a telephone intervention on Antena 3.
He also says that his father called and answered the phone.
“I called my father. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw my father answering my phone. I asked him how he was doing and he said – well, he can’t talk much, because he still has an oxygen mask in his mouth, and he was.” added the patient’s daughter.
When asked if she was going to transfer her father from the Piatra Neamţ County Hospital, Ana Sandu replied: “Where should we take him? Where?”.
Ten patients died in a fire that broke out on Saturday. November 14, in the Intensive Care Unit of the Piatra Neamţ County Hospital. Seven other people, including doctor Ioan Cătălin Denciu, who tried to save the sick, were injured. The doctor was transferred on Sunday to the Regina Astrid Military Hospital in Brussels.
