The current image of the struggle for power in the NLP: Liberals seek a successor for Orban, but do not want a blitzkrieg / One name, however, circulates – Politics

The public attacks launched by Rares Bogdan and Robert Sigartău against Ludovic Orban officially opened the struggle for power in the NLP. Maintaining a critical mass within the NLP is critical from now until Congress, when the Liberals will decide Orban’s political fate. In the next period, the Liberals will try to join the ranks and find a successor for the current party leader. But it takes time because at this time they have not identified who would yield the game tomorrow. Voices of the PNL assure that Florin Cîțu, from the position of prime minister, could be “a savings option” that is shaping the horizon.

Sources within the party told HotNews.ro that the public attacks launched by the two reflect acute dissatisfaction within the party, especially at the echelon of the organization’s leaders. At the same time, even if the signal was clearly given by Rareș Bogdan and Robert Sighiartău, not all liberals see the two as spearheads in the dethronement of the PNL president.

“Weird. Bogdan came back from vacation and woke up saying he wants a revolution in the party. There are internal dissatisfactions and frustrations with the way Orban negotiated his own interest in forming the Government, but it was decided that we will have a congress in the fall.” . he tried to ride the wave and he was joined by Sigartău who, from the position of secretary general of the party, forgets that he lost the elections and the credibility in our eyes ”, an NLP leader from the territory explained to HotNews.ro.

The camps are only now beginning to take shape. According to the sources cited, there are currently no camps created around the Liberal leaders, but this is expected in the coming months.

Some of the organizations in Transylvania, Moldova, but also Muntenia consider that Ludovic Orban should be replaced, but in a legal framework and in the future party congress, set for September.

His opponents include names like Emil Boc, Ilie Bolojan, Mircea Hava, Florin Roman, Gheorghe Flutur, Dan Motreanu, Alina Gorghiu, and Iulian Dumitrescu.

Transylvanian leaders did not renounce public attacks by Rareș Bogdan and Robert Sighiartău, but demanded that the debate take place inside and wait for the congress. In a public statement, Emil Boc acknowledged that it is natural to express opinions against the current leadership, but “continuing every day is unproductive and inefficient.”

  • Emil Boc: “NLP is a lively, dynamic party and to a certain extent this is natural. Those expressed by my colleagues represented points of view from the inside expressed now outside and I consider that to some extent the specification of these things is natural, but the continuation The debates must remain in the party. We will hold a congress. The NLP needs Rareș Bogdan and Robert Sighiartău, all of them, because we all form a team, and those who go to the congress will determine the place of each one (…) Now we need performance in the act of governing. Continuing every day seems unproductive and inefficient to me. “
  • Gheorghe Falcă: Ludovic Orban must be treated as a responsible politician who will also have great responsibility for the next four years, from the position of president of the Chamber of Deputies. I would not like, personally, because we will have the possibility in autumn. a Congress and I believe that it is not necessary to make such a gesture today, but within Congress, those who will be responsible and will assume both a candidacy for the position of president, first vice president, then the party will enter the logic of an internal competition (. ..) I believe that at this moment Mr. Orban together with the NLP team has the responsibility of legislatively supporting this government ”.

According to sources at HotNews.ro, there are currently no strong positions to claim the leadership of the party. Emil Boc wants to continue his activity in Cluj and would not want to return to the leadership of the party and Ilie Bolojan would not express any intention in this regard (it seems that he would not have a good relationship with President Klaus Iohannis, say HotNews.ro sources).

At the same time, within NLP, some of the organization leaders are considering gathering ranks around Prime Minister Florin Cîțu. “It is being discussed around the corner that, from the position of prime minister, Cîțu is a variant to consider for the position of party president. We have to think about the future of the party, during the next four years. The name of Cîțu would be a variant of NLP, as Teodor Stolojan, a president who balanced the party, was in the past. Furthermore, Klaus Iohannis has a very good relationship with him “, explain the sources of HotNews.ro.

A delimitation movement of Ludovic Orban was carried out a week ago by Prime Minister Florin Cîțu, who changed a series of councilors and secretaries of state appointed in the Government by the leader of the PNL. Among them are Tănase Stamule, State Councilor in the Chancellery of Prime Minister Dragoș Tănăsoiu, head of the Prime Minister’s Control Corps and Romulus Lucian Iaru, Deputy Secretary General of the Government.

We remind you that the tensions within NLP began at the end of last year. The tone of discontent was given by the leaders of Transylvania and Muntenia, who reproached him for giving in to the negotiations on the formation of the Government, important portfolios such as Transport and Development in exchange for obtaining the position of President of the Chamber of Deputies.

Orban put us in front of the accomplished fact in the negotiations on the formation of the Government. He came to the meeting with the leaders of the organizations and announced the outcome of the negotiations. It is inadmissible to give the Transportation and Development of some partners% and everything to maintain their pole of power through the position of president of the Chamber of Deputies ”, affirms a leader of the PNL.

The transfer of ministries with money has directly affected the activity and interests of the leaders of the territory who have lost their priority and advantages in access to public money and now have to queue and wait for financing with government partners.

In fact, the scandal over spending on vaccination centers is one such example. Cluj Mayor Emil Boc came into direct conflict with Health Minister Vlad Voiculescu and publicly criticized the government’s emergency ordinance stipulating that local governments must establish and equip Covid-19 vaccination centers, not to mention the source of money.
