Japanese fashion designer Kenzo Takada, 81, died Sunday from COVID -19, Agerpres reports.
The first Japanese stylist to settle in Paris, where he spent his entire career and rose to fame, Kenzo Takada passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, due to an illness caused by COVID-19. states a press release quoted by AFP.
Born on February 27 in Himeji, near Osaka, Kenzo Takada was passionate about drawing and tailoring, which he learned from his sisters. He arrived in France in 1965 by ship, disembarked in the port of Marseille and later settled in Paris.
Its first collection dates from 1970, and the Kenzo brand, noted for its graphic and floral prints, received this name in 1976.
The first Kenzo line for men dates back to 1983 and the first perfume, Kenzo Kenzo, was launched in 1988.
In 1993, the designer sold his clothing brand to the giant LVMH and retired from fashion six years later.
