The patient who died of COVID was found and disappeared from Floreasca Hospital. Another family collected the body and buried it, believing it to be their relative. Now the police are investigating negligence. In parallel, there are administrative controls in the hospital.

In fact, this was the first suspicion of the hospital staff when it was discovered that the body of a deceased had disappeared without a trace.

On December 31, two people died and one of the families identified the body and it was delivered to the funeral home. Now, we check if this corpse was not correctly recognized by the family or if someone made a mistake when delivering the corpse, because most likely the two corpses were confused.“Said Dr. Bogdan Oprița, spokesman for Hospital Floreasca.

A patient who died on December 31 was to be transferred by his family on Monday, January 4. However, when they arrived at the hospital, relatives were informed that the deceased could not be found. From the beginning it was suspected that the body had reached another family who, in the meantime, had buried it.

Mioara Păuna, wife of the deceased: ‘Today we arrived at 9 o’clock, they told us to wait, then they told us to wait, it was a mess … I saw what the dead people who were from COVID showed me, I didn’t recognize any of them. The last explanation is that he could have given it to someone else. That’s when I called the police. We want our body, I have three children who suffer, they loved him, he was their father ”.

“In this case, investigations were initiated, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Court of First Instance, under the aspect of the commission of the crime of negligence in office. Within the framework of the investigation activities, the specific situation of the corpse.“, reported on Monday, the Press Office of the General Directorate of the Bucharest Police (DGPMB).

The family of the deceased notified 112 that they had been notified of the death of a relative at the hospital. But when relatives arrived to collect the body, “hospital officials were unable to release him,” the DGPMB said.

“Police from Section 1 came to the place, who came into contact with the family, but also with representatives of the health unit, who at this time specified that the body should be released, after completing some medical procedures,” shows the cited source.

Verifications are carried out by Police Section 1 to establish the factual situation.
