Romania passed the threshold of 5,000 deaths among COVID-19 patients on Sunday. There have been 56 deaths in the last 24 hours alone. And there is other worrying data: 1,835 infections, huge, compared to the total of tests.
Even worse than Friday, when we hit the record for cases! In Intensive Care we have a new peak: 598 patients, and authorized voices among doctors say that “we are in an uncontrollable phase.”
Virgil Musta, an infectious disease physician at Victor Babeş Hospital in Timişoara: “We are entering an uncontrollable phase of the pandemic in which patients who need hospitalization will have nowhere to go.”
Virgil Muştă points out that the intensive care system is starting to give way.
In the last 24 hours, there were more than 1,800 cases of new infections, but pay attention to only 13,770 tests, so 13.5% of those examined found they were infected with SARS-Cov-2. , four percent more than the day a record number of cases was registered.
There are 598 patients in the country’s intensive care units on Sunday, the majority since the start of the pandemic. Mechanical ventilation is required for almost 180 of them. Dr. Musta claims that only two out of ten patients survive, according to statistics.
Dr. Amin Zahra works at the Ploiești County Emergency Hospital in Intensive Care. Keep a journal on Facebook since this pandemic started. He found out the case of an 18-year-old girl, who was in serious condition, without any other illness.
Amin Zahra, intensive care physician: “I investigated, I did all kinds of tests both in the state and in private, where I did not have the opportunity to do them in the hospital, I tried to see if he has an undetected disease, an autoimmune disease, nothing!”
It tells young people to be aware and responsible, especially in group meetings, because the virus can kill them.
Amin Zahra, intensive care physician: “Why do we have so many cases, why does this happen? Well, we have a tendency to deny reality. Young people come with quite a large baggage, full of rules imposed by society, parents, school. And psychologically anything. “I assure you that it is not a challenge to go through a mild or severe form of virus infection.”
Due to the small number of free beds, especially in big cities, doctors advise people with mild symptoms to treat at home. Almost 14,000 carriers of the SARS-Cov-2 virus are in this situation.
