The infection rate of the last 14 days is increasing rapidly in several provinces of the country, given that today a new record of COVID-19 cases was registered: 4,848 in 24 hours.

The highest contagion rate, according to the most recent balance, is registered in the Alba region: 3.26 per thousand inhabitants. Yesterday, this index was 3.06.

Alba thus surpasses Bucharest, where the contagion rate reached 3.25, increasing slightly from 3.23 yesterday.

Two other municipalities are approaching the threshold of 3 per thousand inhabitants, which means entering the red scenario. These are Harghita, with a contagion rate of 2.78, slightly lower than yesterday (2.84) and Cluj, which rose sharply from 2.52 yesterday to 2.8 today.

In fact, Cluj has the highest number of confirmed cases in the last 24 hours after Bucharest – 343. The city of Cluj-Napoca is already on the red stage, according to DSU chief Raed Arafat.

650 new cases were detected in Bucharest.

Other counties with large numbers of new COVID-19 infections are Mureș (234) Iași, with 231 cases, Dolj, with 201 cases, Suceava (198) and Alba, with 170 cases.
