Three codebreakers cracked one of the murderer’s coded messages “Zodiac Killer”, which was posted 50 years ago to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The killer, who was never caught, terrorized the San Francisco Bay area and killed at least five people with stabbings and shootings in the late 1960s, according to the BBC.

The three code breakers, David Oranchak, Sam Blake, and Jarl Van Eycke, are from the US, Belgium, and Australia.

According to a video posted on Youtube by David Oranchak, the Virginia web designer, the “Zodiac Killer” message does not offer any clues to help the police discover the identity of the killer: “I hope you have a lot of fun trying to catch me. No I’m afraid of the gas chamber because it will send me to paradise (sic) much faster because now I have enough slaves to work for me. ”

After decrypting the message, the FBI published a statement on Twitter, stating that “the FBI has learned that the figure attributed to the Zodiac Killer was recently solved by individuals.” The Zodiac Killer case remains an ongoing investigation for the San Francisco division of the FBI and local law enforcement partners. The Zodiac killer has terrorized various communities in Northern California, and although decades have passed since then, we will continue to seek justice for the victims of these brutal crimes. ”

The “Zodiac Killer” crime series began in December 1968 when a man and a woman were shot in their car. In July 1969, another man and a woman were shot, but only the man survived. Later, a couple were stabbed near a lake and the woman died. In October 1969, a taxi driver was shot and killed in San Francisco.

His murders inspired two films: “Zodiac” in 2007, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jake Gyllenhaal, and “Dirty Harry” in 1971, starring Clint Eastwood as a tough San Francisco detective.
